The Archive

We finally found an Archive library. One that didn't also have the death sign sprayed on it this time. It didn't look any different from any of the other libraries we visited. I guess that makes sense. Evil cult's probably don't want to stand out too much to the outside world. Alicia headed straight for the reception counter and asked to see an archive broker. The librarian said she did not know what Alicia was talking about. “Don't bullshit me. I've been doing this shit for too long to fall for that. You've got information we need, call out your broker so we can make a deal.” Alicia said slamming her hand on the counter. “Ma'am I'm going to have to ask you to leave. I have no idea what you're talking about. Please, don't make me call the police.” The librarian said with a serious frown. I was starting to think we got it wrong and this was just another normal library. Until a door behind the counter opened and another librarian wal...

Signs

Just a short update. We've been driving around trying to find a library that belongs to the Archive. Alicia says they're marked with small specific symbols. She told me that people running from the cults use these symbols to communicate. Marking places as safe or dangerous and giving information about those dangers. We've visited several libraries so far but none of them had the symbols we were looking for. Except that one library. It did have the right symbols but it also had another symbol sprayed on a wall. When Alicia saw that one she grabbed my shoulder and told me to run to the car. She didn't tell me what the symbol meant or why we had to run. When I asked her afterwards she just said: “If you ever see that symbol on any building. Whatever you do, do not go inside.” “Why, what's in there?” I asked. “Death.” That didn't really explain anything. However, I've learned my lesson about ignoring warnings like that.

Alicia the Owl

First off, I made a mistake in my last post. I had explicitly said that I would not be revealing any names. Yet I revealed both my own and Alicia's name. Just more proof that I'm an idiot I guess. Secondly, according to Alicia the guy that attacked me belongs to a gang/cult called the Timberwolves. So when my mother's text mentioned a wolf, that's probably what she was talking about. Specifically the same timberwolf that attacked me. Unless their cult happen to all share the same van or something. Which begs the question, how did my mother know what a timberwolf even was? Also what does the rest of the message mean? I still have no idea. With that out of the way, back to where I left off in my last post. I did eventually manage to let go of Alicia's hand. Only after I had melted into an amorphous blob out of embarrassment. With her hand now free she went over to the timberwolf and tied him up. Just in case he'd wake up. She then asked why I was e...

I'm an idiot.

My friend warned me not to go. Like everyone else she told me it was too dangerous. Just like all the other times I ignored it. In hindsight the van was such an obvious trap but I just had to be stubborn. After all I'm the only one who can find my mother, right? Except that was bullshit. There's no way I could ever find my mother by myself. First of all that grey van was way too easy to find. Parked in a quiet street where almost nobody ever comes. Even during the day it would be suspicious but I just had to go at night. What an idiot. I just went straight for the vehicle and checked the license plate. It matched. It was then I realized I had no idea what to do next. I didn't even have a plan prepared. I figured breaking into the vehicle would be a good idea. There would surely be clues in there. Obvious problem: I have no idea how to break into a car. I don’t know how to lock-pick a car door, or any door really. Smash a window? What about the alarm? While all thes...

Quick update

I have made some progress. I'm still staying at my friends house and I asked her if she could make sense of the mysterious text. The first part is still a mystery. My friend however recognized the last part. I thought it was a code but my friend realized it was just a license plate. So now I feel pretty dumb. “C V Grey/ 1-BLS-165 ” Which means the C probably means “Car”. Then my friend guessed V was maybe “Van”. So I started asking around if anyone had seen a grey van. Turns out that there happens to be a vehicle just like it not too far away. So I'm going to check it out. I'll update when I get back.

Synagogue

Image
I'm shaking right now. Some stuff happened. I should probably keep things chronological. Despite the last part being far more uh.. what's the word? Urgent? Important? Fucked up? One of those probably. First things first I guess. I Went to the synagogue. Like I said I would. I only ever went there with my mother so being there alone was odd. My mother is jewish and she tried to teach me all the important stuff about her religion and culture. It didn't exactly stick though. Maybe if she had been around more that would be different. Don't get me wrong. I liked learning these things, going to the synagogue, celebrating the holidays and all that stuff. Mostly blowing the shofar, I enjoyed doing that, never got any good at it though. It's just that my father isn't jewish and barely knows anything about all that stuff. Which means my mother is the only one who knows how to do all the ritual stuff. Also my fathers atheism rubbed off on me. So I never got into the r...

Investigation

I started my search the day after I made the first post here. The only thing I could think of was to go around asking around the neighbourhood for any information. Then I'd figure out what to do from there. However none of my neighbours seems to have seen anything. Some of the less polite neighbours flat out refused to talk to me. Only the old lady across the street (I'm not going to use any names obviously.) had any information to share. Most of it was about her twelve cats. Which wasn't why I was there but at that point I could use a break. Also her tea is always nice. She did say she saw my mother leave the house that day. She saw her heading in the direction of the grocery store. Which at least confirms my mother didn't lie about where she was going, probably. However it doesn't really provide any new clues. Which meant I had just spent half a day and made zero progress. So I had to start looking for clues elsewhere. I figured I should try the grocery sto...

My mother is missing.

It's been a month since I last saw my mother but nobody is looking for her. She works for Doctors Without Borders so a part of me has always been afraid this would happen. She often has to travel to dangerous regions. She spends so much time in the middle of a war zone or the aftermath of a natural disaster. Each time I worry it'll be the last time I see her but she always returns. Her last trip was no different. She came back safely like always. She had been home for a week and wasn't supposed to leave again for another three months. So I never thought my worst fear would come true when she just went to the grocery store. She asked me if I needed anything from the store. I said no, she said she'd be back in an hour or so. That was the last conversation I had with her. The next day me and my father went to the police station to report her missing. My father was nearly having a nervous breakdown. Even more so when they told us they'd have to wait ...
