Birds?

Why are there so many of them? In this town I mean. Not in general. Although there are a lot of birds in the world. There just seems to be a large concentration of birds in this specific area. Maybe there's always this many birds. Maybe I'm just noticing them now because I'm trying to see if any of them act oddly.

Although I'm not sure what normal bird behavior is. So far they seem okay to me, there's just more of them than I expected. I can barely turn a corner without seeing at least one. So far I've seen pigeons, seagulls, crows and a bunch of other small birds I don't know the name of. Nothing out of the ordinary. For a moment I thought seagulls were out of place this far from the sea. However I'm sure I've seen them around the city before. So that must not be too weird.

In more important news, we've found the Nest. Alicia followed them for a bit and says she knows where they're living. All that's left now is grabbing them and taking them to the archive. Which sounds a lot like kidnapping. In fact I'm pretty sure that's exactly what it is...

I think I'm doing exactly what KRAKEN did to my mother? Who knows what the Archive will do to the nest? Alicia seems to be okay with it but I'm not sure I still trust her. What have I gotten myself into?

  1. What have you gotten yourself into? Oh so much. Like... You don't even know. Should be fun :D

  2. I'm not so sure it would be a good idea to kidnap a Nest. Given they have birds inside them, and all. And no, I'm not a cultist. I don't blame you if you don't believe what I just said about Nests, though. Or anything else I say. In spite of this, you should keep an eye out for people with birds inside them, birds that can summon lightning, and people with birds that can summon lightning inside them.

    You'll thank me later.

There are also moral concerns. Nests seem to be largely unwilling, in my experience. Though there are... certain exceptions. I happen to have a personal disdain for said exceptions, as it turns out.

This is where ethics gets tricky, though. If a Nest doesn't want people dead, but the birds inside them very much do, is it still okay to murder said Nest with a flamethrower and/or incendiary grenade?

(This is only partially a joke.)

(P.S.—Apologies for not commenting earlier. I'd liked to have let you know just how much trouble you're in earlier, but I'm not a time traveler, as far as I'm aware, so... no such luck.)

    1. What?! Birds inside people? Lightning? What are you talking about? None of that makes sense. What's this obsession with flamethrowers?

I don't even want to deal with any of this.

    2. Yeah, I figured that would be how you'd react. Disbelief is a perfectly natural reaction to, er, all this. Still, vigilance never hurt anybody, eh?

(And the flamethrower thing... helps with the birds. To quote a wise sage by the name of Crocodile Tears, "knives are not very effective on birds or people full of birds." And neither are guns, or really most weapons people use on other people.)

And if it helps any... you're not alone. None of us wanted to deal with this.

    3. Hiya Poe! Love you boo! Also it is definitely still okay to murder them. Though I generally consider it okay to murder anyone for pretty much any reason (As your girlfriend is aware) so I might not be the best person to ask about ethics.
