Darkness

The entrance was just a long empty hallway that led to a set of stairs. There was also an elevator but taking it seemed like a bad idea. If it even worked. So the stairs it was. They went on for a long time, I lost count at around the sixth floor down. The lights weren't on so it got dark pretty fast. Luckily Alicia had a flashlight with her.

After a while we finally found a door but it was locked. So we kept going down. The next door was at the very bottom. This one wasn't locked. The moment Alicia opened it a chill went down my spine. I had no idea why yet.

Carefully we went in. I quickly noticed the place smelled like a hospital but dustier. It didn't look at all like one though. It was far more bare. As if someone had started building a hospital but never bothered to finish it. The floor and walls were just plain concrete. With several windows scattered around. It was too dark to see what was inside. Most of the doors here were also locked.

There was almost no sound aside from that of our footsteps. Which just made me even more nervous. The silence was killing me so I started to ask a question to Alicia. She shushed me. “We're not alone, stay quiet.”

I nodded even though she wasn't facing me so she couldn't see it. I realized that but I was too afraid to answer her now. I wasn't sure why she thought we weren't alone though. As far as I could tell this place was completely abandoned.

After a while we finally found a room that wasn't locked. Alicia looked at me and gestured over to the door. I nodded and she opened it. Carefully we entered. The first thing we noticed were the empty hospital beds. There was also a bunch of medical equipment scattered over the room. So Dr. Slager had probably been here at some point. At least there had been some KRAKEN oathbreakers. However they no longer were here, we were too late.

Then we saw the weirdest thing in this room. At the other end of the room there was a glass tank that reached up to the ceiling. At first it seemed like it was filled with just water. Alicia noticed there was something else in there.

They seemed to be some sort of leather belts. “What are those for?” I asked, forgetting we were supposed to be quiet.

“Probably for keeping something restrained. See the chains?” Alicia pointed with her flashlight.

There were indeed chains at the ends of the leather belts. “They kept something tied up underwater? Why?”

“No clue.” Alicia shrugged.

Suddenly there was a sound outside the room. I couldn't tell what it was but Alicia was right, we weren't alone.

“I'm sorry, it seems your mother isn't here. We should get out of here before whatever that was finds us.”

She was right. My mother wasn't down there. I almost started crying but we needed to get out of there. No time for crying. So I held back my tears and nodded. “Yes.”

We turned around and started heading back. Looking around every few seconds to make sure we weren't about to be attacked. Every sound I heard made my hair stand up on end. For a moment I even thought there were three sets of footsteps. When I turned around I only saw darkness. So I figured it was nothing.

That changed when we reached the stairway again. There standing in the middle of the stairway was a pale looking woman. She was dressed in nothing but a hospital gown. Her arms were hanging limply next to her. Her long black hair was dripping wet and hanging over her face. A single blue eye peeked through the hair and looked at us.

“Ahh leee siiaa” She hissed and took a step towards down the stairs.

Alicia sighed. “Goddamn it, it just had to be a camper.”

“AaaHh Leeessss yyyaa. Wwhhee fffouund yooouu.” Another step towards us.

“Congratu-fucking-lations EAT. You found me, now get the fuck out of our way or you know how this ends.”

“Aahhliiciia, why sssuch ostiiility. Aaahh mmmmmeerely whiiishhh to tolk.” She said full of malice in her voice. She took another step.

“You wanna talk? How about you finish learning how to do it first, you fucking Spa bottle.”

“yessss.. youuu stiiiillll mooouuurn yoourr Ffffriend.”

“Don't you even dare mention her.” She clenched her fist.

“Whhhyyy aaangrr towarddsss meee thoughh? You rrrrr the ooonnee that kiiiillled er.” She was getting very close now.

“SHUT UP! She was already dead! You turned her into one of your fucking camper! That wasn't her I killed!”

“Aaahh Ssshhheee stiiiillll liiiiivvvessss within.”

“No she fucking doesn't!” Alicia slammed her fist against the camper.

It stumbled back and fell on the stairs. It tried to get back up but then Alicia was on top of it and kept wailing on its face with her fists.

The Camper suddenly grabbed Alicia's arm and dug its nails into her wound. A scream.

I ran towards them but Alicia grabbed its head and just snapped the neck of the thing.

Alicia reached for the wound on her arm. “God fucking damn it!” She cried out in pain.

I ran over to her and put a hand on her shoulder. “We really need to go do something about that wound.”

“Yeah, no fucking kidding.” She sighed and I helped her get back on her feet.

“You have a nice new friend Alicia, how long until your reckless behavior gets this one killed? Or perhaps this time you'll be the one to perish?” A new voice came from behind us.

“Fuck you EAT.” Alicia said as we turned around.

This new camper was also dressed in only a hospital gown. However this one had short blue hair and didn't talk like an absolute creep.

“I understand your new friend is looking for her mother? Perhaps I can help.” Somehow she still sounded creepy though.

“Fuck you, we don't need your so called help.” Alicia stepped over the other Camper corpse and headed up the stairs.

“Wait, you know where my mother is?” I asked the Camper.

Alicia stopped walking and turned to me. “You can't believe anything it says. We need to get out of here.”

“I know but..what if?”

“There is another Camper base nearby. Dr. Slager should be there right now. If you hurry you might catch him.”

“Where?” I asked.

Alicia shook her head and kept walking.

The camper then told me where we could find this other base. Which I won't reveal on this blog, we don't want KRAKEN to know we might be coming. I say 'might' because Alicia doesn't want to go. She says it's a trap. I know she's right but what else can we do at this point?

  1. I mean listening to EAT has always been helpful to me, though I guess I've also been on a different side than you. Also I know you're sad you didn't find your mother, but hey at least she wasn't one of the camper you ran into. Then you'd have to watch as your crush killed your mother... Like she apparently killed her friend.
