Oathbreaker

We found the base somewhere in the city. We parked the car a few blocks away to avoid attracting attention. Alicia opened the car door and turned to me. “You ready?”

I nodded and we both got out of the car. However I wasn't ready at all. The only reason I didn't just break down right then and there was Alicia. She's the one that got me this far. I've just been following her around like a lost puppy for the last few months.

We came from around a corner. Alicia peeked out and said the coast looked clear. So we went for it. We slowly walked towards the building. It was old and the windows were covered up. The front entrance was a very large door. Probably for cars to get inside.

For a moment I thought we would make it in unseen but then the door got kicked open wide. Behind it stood someone wearing a coat and a bird-like mask. Alicia put a hand on my shoulder. “That's an oathbreaker, stay back.”

“Okay.” I did what she said. Alicia had told me before that Oathbreakers are dangerous because they tend to use weapons that are laced with all kinds of diseases. Which is honestly terrifying. Alicia walked towards the Oathbreaker and he began walking towards her as well.

When they got close to each other the oathbreaker pulled out a large serrated knife and slashed at Alicia. She dodged to the side and then punched him in the stomach.

He took a step back and swung his knife wildly through the air. Alicia jumped back and avoided the knife.

I was so focused on watching this happen that by the time I noticed there was someone standing behind me it was too late. I tried to scream but suddenly there was a hand pressed over my mouth.

Then another hand wrapped around my throat.

Not being able to breathe I panicked and kicked my legs around around trying to escape. I hit something,  it made a clanging sound. I think it was a trash can.

Whatever it was it caused Alicia to notice me struggling.

She kicked the oathbreaker to the ground and rushed over to me.

For a moment the hand on my mouth lost grip. Long enough for me to bite it.

Whoever was holding me let out a cry. This distraction was enough for Alicia to punch them in the face.

Their grip on me was gone and they fell on the ground behind me.

But then I noticed the oathbreaker running towards us with his knife. “Alicia behind you!”

Alicia turned around but she was too late and the knife slashed across her arm. “Motherfucking fuck!” She cried out.

The oathbreaker was about to attack again. Seeing Alicia in danger I launched myself forward.

I hit something and fell down.

Then next thing I know I was on top of the oathbreaker. I wasn't sure what to do next so I just punched his mask. Which was much harder than I expected. It really hurt my hand.

He then tried to reach for the knife he had dropped but Alicia kicked it away. She then kicked him in the face.

I then saw her hand stretched out towards me and took it. She helped me back on my feet. Both of our attackers were lying on the ground and not moving. Also the door to the base was now open, thanks to the oathbreaker's dramatic entrance. Alicia nodded at the door.”Let's go.”

“But your arm! We need to to take care of that.”

She looked down at the bleeding cut on her arm and frowned. “Yeah, unfortunately we don't have time for that. Your mother is a doctor right? She'll have to take a look at this but first we save her.”

I nodded and into the dark building we went.

  1. Oh... You're gonna be in a lot of trouble when Alicia inevitably dies now... Sad. Even worse cause it's all your fault for allowing yourself to be captured and distracting her.
