Yellow eye
Why can't anything go right for once? We were so close. We were just going to scout out the base. So that we could plan our approach better. It wasn't supposed to be dangerous. Well okay, it was dangerous but it wasn't supposed to be THAT dangerous yet.
Before I start worrying everyone I'll clarify that we're both fine. No, fine is not the right word. Alicia is still sick and I'm still scared but we're still alive for now. We're just in a lot of trouble. More than normal I mean. Then again maybe not. When have we not been in trouble? It's just this time we've realized we probably won't make it out of this.
I better stop ranting and start explaining.
Me and Alicia were walking towards where EAT told us the base was. Which is still in the same city as the last base. It was getting dark and the neighbourhood was quiet. So we figured we could sneak around easily. We were a few blocks away from the building still. We weren't expecting three guys in black robes to jump us. We probably should have though. Not the black robes, the being jumped part. Although with all the cults we've been dealing with I'm surprised it took this long for people in robes to show up.
Alicia told me to stay back again. She stepped forward, standing between me and the three robed men. They all had knives. They rushed towards Alicia and tried to stab her.
She grabbed one of their arms, pulled him between her and the other two. Planting her elbow in his face.
She then gave him a push right into his friend. They both fell over.
Alicia was already starting to get out of breath. The illness has been taking its toll on her.
The third one slashed at her. She was too slow and he got her in the shoulder.
With a scream she slammed the knife out of his hand. It fell to the ground but Alicia quickly grabbed it.
He tried to grab the knife out of her hands. There was a struggle, Alicia leaned forward with all her weight.
He stumbled back, the knife now in his gut. Alicia pulled out the knife and punched him in the face. He went down.
I learned my lesson from last time. So when I heard footsteps sneaking up behind me I reacted quickly and punched them.
Turns out my punches don't hit very hard...
Another guy in robes was standing behind me. When he didn't go down the first time I tried to punch him again.
My fist never connected. Instead his hand was wrapped around my wrist.
There was a pull and suddenly his other hand was around my neck.
While I struggled to get free his hood came down. I instantly recognized him. It was the same Timberwolf that almost killed me months ago. “You're not getting away this time.” His eyes were filled with anger.
Then both of his hands were on my throat and I could feel my feet leaving the ground.
I tried to scream for help but there was no sound. I tried to kick and punch him but it was like hitting a stone wall.
I turned towards Alicia, reaching out an arm to her for help.
She couldn't help me. Her two attackers had pushed her to the ground. They stood above her with their knives ready. She was in pain.
Tears rolled down my face.
I couldn't breathe. It hurt. I was going to die.
Alicia was going to die.
My mother was going to die.
Everything we had done was for nothing.
But then one of the guys standing over Alicia suddenly fell on his knees. His hand clutching at his chest, he screamed out in pain.
Then from the darkness she appeared.
She was wearing a grey hoodie and her face was hidden in darkness. All I could see was a single yellow glowing eye.
She calmly walked towards us. The standing KRAKEN guy yelled. “It's her!” Then he charged towards her with his knife.
He stabbed her in the shoulder. Without flinching her hand went for his arm.
Then he just collapsed on the ground.
She kicked him once. There was no reaction.
She stepped right over his lifeless body and kept walking.
Alicia stared at her in disbelief as she just walked right past her and the other KRAKEN guy. Who was still on his knees.
She was walking over to me and the Timberwolf.
When he saw her coming he cried out. “Wait no!”
I fell to the ground as his hands released me and he tried to run.
He didn't get far before falling face first against the ground. I heard him groan.
I looked over and he was squirming. His hand clutching his chest as well.
That's when she walked past me. Only then did I get a closer look at her. It was something straight out of a horror movie. Her skin was as pale as a corpse, there was a large burn scar over one side of her face. Her yellow glowing iris surrounded by darkness.
She made her way over to the Timberwolf step by step. Then she picked him up by his hair. He screamed.
She then slowly turned her head towards me.
I realized I was still lying on the ground but I couldn't look away.
She said just one word. “Run.”
Which is exactly what I did. I ran straight over to Alicia and pulled her on her feet.
We just got the heck out of there.
Behind us we could hear the Timberwolf's agonized screams. We didn't look back.
You know I was going to talk about what a terrible liability you are again. You know harp on it some more, but I'm just too stunned by this yellow eyes person and I find myself wondering if I know them... I might have stabbed them repeatedly once... Good times. If you see her again name drop me. I'm sure she'd love to hear that I'm still doing fine.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing my best, shut up!
DeleteIf you stabbed her that much you clearly didn't do a very good job because she's still walking around. If she wasn't we'd be dead so I guess you failing to kill her was a good thing.
I didn't fail to kill her. she failed to die.
DeleteThat doesn't make sense!
DeleteThat doesn't make sense... Says the person currently talking to a person who once had birds inside of them and who got told where to go by a hivemind made of eldritch water.
Deleteeven setting that aside... well, faceless, i didn't take you as the sort for semantics.
