Yelling

Alicia and I have been talking about what the Camper said. It was more like an argument actually. There was yelling. I'm not good with yelling. I shut down when there's too much yelling. This is how the argument ended. “Please Alicia, we have to try! If we don't do anything now..” I begged her. Alicia sighed and rubbed her fingers over her temple and nose. “It's a trap. You know that!” “Of course I do. You have a different plan then?” “Yeah, it's called not going on a suicide mission!” “You're already sick! If we don't find a doctor we can trust you'll be death soon. Isn't that also suicide? My mother is a doctor and we can trust her. We just need to find her and-” “I'm fine!” She shouted. I curled up in the passenger seat. We both know that was a lie but I couldn't respond. I was too much of a coward to say it then so I'll say it here. Even this is scary but these last couple of months have been one scary thing after anoth...

Darkness

The entrance was just a long empty hallway that led to a set of stairs. There was also an elevator but taking it seemed like a bad idea. If it even worked. So the stairs it was. They went on for a long time, I lost count at around the sixth floor down. The lights weren't on so it got dark pretty fast. Luckily Alicia had a flashlight with her. After a while we finally found a door but it was locked. So we kept going down. The next door was at the very bottom. This one wasn't locked. The moment Alicia opened it a chill went down my spine. I had no idea why yet. Carefully we went in. I quickly noticed the place smelled like a hospital but dustier. It didn't look at all like one though. It was far more bare. As if someone had started building a hospital but never bothered to finish it. The floor and walls were just plain concrete. With several windows scattered around. It was too dark to see what was inside. Most of the doors here were also locked. There was almost no so...

Oathbreaker

We found the base somewhere in the city. We parked the car a few blocks away to avoid attracting attention. Alicia opened the car door and turned to me. “You ready?” I nodded and we both got out of the car. However I wasn't ready at all. The only reason I didn't just break down right then and there was Alicia. She's the one that got me this far. I've just been following her around like a lost puppy for the last few months. We came from around a corner. Alicia peeked out and said the coast looked clear. So we went for it. We slowly walked towards the building. It was old and the windows were covered up. The front entrance was a very large door. Probably for cars to get inside. For a moment I thought we would make it in unseen but then the door got kicked open wide. Behind it stood someone wearing a coat and a bird-like mask. Alicia put a hand on my shoulder. “That's an oathbreaker, stay back.” “Okay.” I did what she said. Alicia had told me before that Oathb...

It's not happening

Alicia read the comments on my last post. We talked about it briefly and decided that's not going to happen. So we can all collectively agree to never bring that up again. Yes? Thanks. Speaking about the comments, Alicia does know about Faceless. At least a little bit. Apparently he used to be a pretty infamous nest. However Alicia figured he wouldn't be a problem because last she checked he was on the other side of the Atlantic ocean. On to things that actually matter. We're close to where Dr. Slager's lab was. If we're lucky he'll still be there and so will my mother. Then we can save her and get my father out of jail. Then we can go home and all of this will be over. I'll post an update when we're done. Wish us luck.

We need to talk

Now that we have a lead on where Dr. Slager could be we're heading straight there. Hopefully we can get some more clues or even better, find my mother. Either way we're getting closer. Alicia and I hadn't said a word since we left the library. I mostly just didn't know what to say. Also I had fallen asleep at some point. I hadn't gotten much sleep when we were being chased by birds. So I had some catching up to do. By the time I woke up it was already night and the radio volume was turned up just high enough to be background noise. As she was driving Alicia noticed me stirring. “You awake?” I yawned. “Hmmm, I think so.” “Okay. When you're sure you're not dreaming let me know. I think we need to talk.” I rubbed my eyes, trying to get them open properly. “Talk about what?” “Mostly about the Fears being real. There's things you need to know about them.” She took a deep breath. “And also.. we need to talk about your crush on me.” “Oh god. Do w...

Hello, old friend

The nest was still tied up and looking up at Scribe Delta. “So it is you. Wait, Sam, you're not with KRAKEN are you?” “No, old friend I'm not and my sources say that you aren't either anymore.” The nest let out a sigh of relief. “Thank fuck. Yeah, I got out.” “Wait, They’re not KRAKEN?!” I yelled out in surprise. Sam put up a hand at me. “Not now, I'm busy.” “Oh.. okay.” I stepped back and looked at Alicia. She shrugged. Sam turned his attention back to the nest. “So old friend, at what point did you realize being in KRAKEN might have been a bad idea?” “Around the time I saw another KRAKEN nest be eaten alive by the birds he had just released. Turns out the Bright Ones do not like KRAKEN. So when KRAKEN announced its presence a few months ago there were many nests who were up for a nasty surprise.” “Ouch. Yeah, that'll do it. Any idea why the birds don't like the octopus?” “If I had to guess they don't like the idea of us taking orders f...

It just had to be a flamethrower

Just before we arrived I sent a message to Scribe Delta saying we were on our way. So I wasn't surprised to see them standing outside waiting for us. What surprised me was the flamethrower strapped to their back. Then again, at this point I should have expected at least someone to show up with one of those. I blame you commenters. The car stopped in front of the Library and Scribe Delta waved at us. “Get the nest inside! I'll handle the birds!” We got out of the car and opened the back door. I got inside to unstrap the seat belts keeping the nest in place. As soon as I did the nest began struggling and flopping around. Which was all they could do since they were still tied up with rope. I tried grabbing their legs and helping Alicia carry them out of the car. But their flopping around made me lose my balance and I fell down. Outside there was a flash of light and the sound of birds flying around in a panic. I tried to get back on my feet b...
